We successfully made it to Las Vegas with the van and camping trailer!
Here is the fully assembled rig that we will be driving around the Western USA this summer.
We got everything hitched up and ready to roll, then we left Denver and headed for Las Vegas.
After getting on the road and driving through the mountain passes around Vail, the steep inclines made for a bit of a challenging. As a result, we watched the fuel economy immediately drop and could almost watch the fuel gage move to E.
The van is definitely rated to tow this size and weight camper. The van definitely struggled on several of the steeper uphill climbs.
As it turns out, the van is designed to operate at higher RPM and actually performs much better on the hills by shifting manually when towing a trailer.
The rig is fully assembled now. Headed to Reno by way of Las Vegas.
