On our way out of Las Vegas headed toward Reno, we decided to make a detour to stop at Cerro Gordo. The GPS routed us through Death Valley which made for a great experience.
It was crazy to see the temperature difference between the pass where we began the decent into Death Valley and the valley floor. The temp went from 78° F at the top to 100° F on the valley floor. The temperature picked up rapidly and it increased in only about 15 or 20 minutes.
We got a low-altitude fly over from one of the military fighter jets that was headed toward Edwards AFB. Awesome experience!
Next stop, Cerro Gordo!
